Filmshop will re-launch Filmshop Presents, its biggest event of the year that showcases member-created, never-before-seen films, on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at TV Eye in New York City. The annual event was paused in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
FS Presents is an evening to showcase films made by Filmshop members around a specific theme decided upon by the community. This year’s theme is After Hours. This is a unique undertaking that gives members the opportunity to collaborate with one another and create a short piece (no more than four minutes) to be screened to over 200 attendees.
Filmshop’s flagship event that has been running since 2009. Unlike weekend-long, run-and-shoot affairs, FS Presents gives a director about two months to develop a story, find the cast and crew, film and then edit the project. Past films made for the occasion have been shown at Rough Trade, Music Hall of Williamsburg and The Bell House.
For the re-launch this year, FS Presents will incorporate projects from all three regional chapters (New York, New Orleans and Los Angeles). This is a first for the organization. There will also be a dance party DJ’ed by Filmshopper Kerry Lacy, a silent auction and additional activities that will be announced. All elements will provide members the opportunity to meet and mingle with their peers and network with the audience while screening a new piece of work.
FS Presents will be held from 7pm-1am at TV Eye in Brooklyn (1647 Weirfield St, Ridgewood, NY 11385). The event is ticketed and open to the public. For more information on Filmshop Presents, visit the website.
